Bouygues Thai and BYES deliver 4 new solar farms

30th December 2016 marked the commissioning of four solar farms, jointly designed and built by Bouygues Thai, Bouygues Energies & Services and the local contractor, McTric.

Located in Ayutthaya, 100 km north of Bangkok, these four solar farms provide together up to 18MW of electricity per year to the national grid. This is the second project Bouygues Thai delivered to our client Primeroad, after the successful handover of the Amata solar farm for 8MW in 2015.

The main challenge faced during this project was to build a 3 m high dike around all the sites in order to protect the farm from floods. In the span of 4 months, 8,405 concrete piles were installed to support 1,319 tables on which 201,720 solar panels were fixed, without forgetting the 63 km of trenches dug and the 162 km of cables installed. To meet the tight work schedule, more than 500 staff were on site at peak.

Bouygues Thai is the pioneer within the Group to build solar farms with the adoption of thin film solar cells that best fit hot climate countries. Successful deliveries of these solar farms set the stone for future developments in other regions.
